Spoilers ahead for Season 3 of The Boys and Season 1 of Gen V!

The Boys Season 4 is set to arrive in 2024, and Prime Video has released two new posters that tease a seemingly good day for Homelander and a tougher one for Butcher.

At the end of The Boys’ third season, we learn that Homelander is backing presidential candidate Robert Singer and vice-presidential candidate Victoria Neuman. If these images are any indication, election day will seemingly go in their favor.

This is obviously bad news for Butcher and crew, and that disappointment can be seen in Butcher as he stands amidst fallen balloons and confetti.

While we didn’t learn anything else about Season 4 from these images, Gen V’s season finale has led to some very interesting revelations. First of all, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke revealed to Variety that Season 4 will take place very close to the events of Gen V’s final episode. You know, the episode that featured both Homelander and Butcher!

“In our minds, it’s only a couple of days after whatever the events are of Gen V,” Kripke said. “We try to keep the timeline super simple because all that folding-in-on-itself timeline stuff that I think other comic book universes find themselves having to do is just bewildering for me as a viewer. So it’s all very modular.

“It’s like there’s Season 3 of The Boys, and then after that Gen V takes place, and then after that The Boys Season 4 takes place. And then after that, Gen V Season 2 takes place. It’s all more like cars on a train than it is a plate of spaghetti.”

Kripke also shared that Gen V’s virus will be a “pretty big part of Season 4” and the team really wanted “Butcher to be aware of it.” Because of that, these exciting cameos were born!
