First Trailer for ‘Twisters’ Sequel with Daisy Edgar-Jones & Glen Powell

“If you don’t face your fears… you ride ’em.” Universal Pictures has revealed the intense first official trailer for Twisters during the Super Bowl this weekend. Yep, after a 28 year wait, they’ve finally, finally made a sequel to the awesome natural disaster movie summer hit Twister from 1996. (The original really does rock! I won’t hear otherwise!) And it’s from the director of Minari! Yeehaw! That’s the best part about the movie. This summer, the epic studio disaster movie returns with an adrenaline-pumping, seat-gripping, big-screen thrill ride that puts audiences right in direct contact with one of nature’s most wondrous—and destructive—forces. Twisters features an exciting new cast, lead by Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell as a reckless tornado tour guide operator, and Anthony Ramos, along with Nope’s Brandon Perea, Sasha Lane, Daryl McCormack, Kiernan Shipka, Nik Dodani, and Maura Tierney. The plot again seems to be – what if some people get way too obsessed with chasing tornadoes and it gets dangerous. But I’m digging it! Looks like as much wild & crazy storm chasin’ fun as the original. “If you feel it, chase it!” 🌪🌪 Bring it on.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters, direct from Universal’s YouTube:

Twisters Sequel Trailer

Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better. As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives. Twisters is directed by acclaimed, Oscar-nominated Korean-American filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung, director of the films Munyurangabo, Lucky Life, Abigail Harm, and Minari previously, and an episode of Disney+’s “The Mandalorian”. The screenplay is written by Mark L. Smith (Séance, Vacancy 1 & 2, The Hole, Martyrs, The Revenant, The Midnight Sky, Marsh King’s Daughter). Produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley. Universal will debut Twisters in theaters worldwide starting on July 19th, 2024 this summer. Who’s in?
