BAKE Off judge Paul Hollywood didn’t mince his words after a “car crash” challenge, calling the contestants’ efforts “disgusting”.
During Tuesday night’s Desserts Week, the bakers faced a challenging task as judge Paul Hollywood tasked them with creating six individual orange and ginger treacle puddings.
Trouble arose right from the start as Saku openly confessed her lack of knowledge on making an orange and treacle pudding.
It then became evident that her fellow competitors were also struggling.
Paul emphasized the importance of nailing the bake.
He said: “It’s critical that they get the bake right. It’s 40 minutes minimum.”
Unfortunately, the bakers lacked Paul’s expertise on the dessert, and many only baked their orange and ginger treacle puddings for 20-25 minutes.
As the bakers proudly showcased their puddings, it quickly became apparent that something had gone terribly wrong.
With half-baked desserts on display, the scene turned into a chaotic mess, prompting Noel to describe it as a “car crash”.
When it was time for the judging, Paul took a quick glance at the puddings and immediately walked away from the table, calling them “disgusting”.
In an attempt to bring some humor to the culinary catastrophe, co-host Alison Hammond quipped, “Well, at least you’re all roughly on the same level.”
Maintaining a light-hearted atmosphere, Paul gave a playful lecture, teasing the bakers about their collective failure in the challenge.
“You’ve let Prue down, you’ve let me down, you’ve let yourselves down. Consider yourselves roasted,” Paul told them as he tried not to laugh.
